Namaste India!

Thanks to a generous fellowship from the Scripps Howard Foundation, I'm gallivanting through India with the former New York Times religion correspondent, Ari Goldman, from March 7 to the 21st!! And I'll be back for the Persian New Year--drop me a note if you want to celebrate Nowruz Mumbarak with other New York Persians and eat (vegetarian) chalo kabobs. Friends and strangers alike are welcome!

We will zigzag across northern India by bus, plane, subway, bicycle rickshaw, autorickshaw, horse carriage, car, motorboat, rowboat, and train. We begin in New Delhi and end in Mumbai, stopping in seven other cities along the way in our quest to report and write about religion and spirituality in India. We will file daily dispatches from India and you can read them here Covering Religion. These are a few of the stories I hope to cover either on a radio broadcast or in print form:

1) Tibetan Buddhist exiles in India and how they're preserving their faith and culture.
2) The current standard of living for "untouchable" Hindus and their attempts to organize and gain rights.
3) How the Iranian Zoroastrian community is reacting to escalating U.S-Iran political tensions.
